Chincoteaque
Eastern Shore, Virginia
November 7 - 9, 2008
If you have heard of the annual pony round up in
Assateague, then you are familiar with Chincoteague for they are side by side.
This is an island on the Eastern Shore, home to the Chincoteague ponies. Seldom
do we visit when we do not get to photograph these wonderful creatures. You will
find a nice variety of subjects: lighthouse, Sika Elk, fishing vessels, buoys,
fishermen, reflections, birds, ponies, white tailed deer, scenics, sunrises and
sunsets, sea foam rainbows and thousands and thousands of Snow Geese landing and
taking off at the same time which is a sight to behold. There are certain moving
experiences that never grow old. In the evening the geese are lit by the
pink/yellow glow of sunset. Even if bird photography is not your “thing”, there
is something for everyone. This is definitely not just a birding expedition, but
there are many species of bird that will make themselves readily accessible to
you and your camera if you wish. And most of them are very close to the side of
the road. This is the migrating season for waterfowl.
We’ll meet on Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the conference room of the motel and end
around noon on Sunday. Our Motel is conveniently located. Motel, Breakfasts and
Lunch are included in the price. (Dinners not included). Cost $600.00
